"Before selling any items that are donated, we check our Community Needs List and with our programs staff to ensure donations are first distributed free of charge to our community members.

Items that are not suitable for distribution will be sold at low cost at the UGM Thrift Store. The UGM Thrift store provides a low cost retail shopping experience in the Downtown Eastside. 100% of the proceeds of the UGM Thrift Store go back into supporting UGM’s life-changing programs and services."

We do our absolute best to sort through your rubbish and separate any items that can be donated to Vancouver Rape Relief & Women’s Shelter. Your unwanted “junk” will be taken to help women in need, here in our own city. Items such as women’s, mens & childrens clothing. Household items, offices supplies and miscellaneous items. Your contribution can make a huge difference in their lives.

By operating successful Thrift Stores and integrating with the mission and work of The Salvation Army as a whole, we exist to be a functioning and thriving modern day model of William Booth's conceived "Household Salvage Brigade" through which the marginalized and excluded of society will be refreshed and regenerated by way of meeting their practical needs.

"We’re a small group of dedicated volunteers who, for the last 35 years, have been picking up and distributing used household items to those in need.

We help:

• women from transition houses
• single moms on income assistance
• new immigrant families
• needy families in our community

Your "junk" can also end up contributing to Wildlife Thrift Store & supporting their local business whom is also associated with local charities. They accept all clothes, furniture, books & housewares as long as they are clean & in good condition.
